Thug
Been reading several books on Detroit's infamous gang, "The Purple Gang", and others when America went dry and prohibition was law in Detroit's dark corrupt days. Growing up in the Downriver area south of Detroit I heard countless tales of how they would smuggle booze across the Detroit River. It's amazing how much bootlegging was going on from Detroit to Wyandotte all the way down to Lake Erie. From Canada to Michigan about 80% of illicit booze crossed the river, much of it operated by organized crime, if not you were playing Russian roulette with your life if you were caught by these ruthless thugs.

New Site!

I thought it would be good to go today, but no such luck. I'm very close to completing the first of 13 Beerisodes. New Beerisodes will be posted every two wks. every Monday. So far 8 of them have already been recorded and they came out great with much props to the voice behind all the characters in these Beerisodes, the talented Eric Bauza.
The site should up and running real soon, I promise! Thanx for being patient with me folks! Much apologies.....

Doodle?
doo·dle1 /ˈdud
l/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[dood-l] verb, -dled, -dling, noun –verb (used with object), verb (used without object)
–noun
Hey bloggers! Been busy ass hell working on a whole slum of pilots and a variety of TV series. This is a page of doodles I did in between animating on the new hit animated series EL-TIGRE. I thought I'd throw this out since I haven't posted any "doodles" in a while, and boy does it show! It sure was fun to break away from the mindless key framing and 'tweening in Flash, something I should do more often.
Recently I've been fishin' around in the blog ponds and happin' to snag a doodle or two from others. Funny thing though, they claimed them to be doodles, but they were far from what the definition above describes. They were more clean than most of my cleaned up pieces of dung, on top of that they had a nice treatment of color. Looks great, but far from a waste of time, haphazard, mindless scribble. Maybe it's just me. I've been far from scribblin' on the paper and mostly pushing those symbols around. Damn Flash!!! My best bet is to just reach deep, deep, deep down in the pockets for some change and pick up one of those fancy Cintiq's. Maybe, just maybe then will my doodles sparkle like one of those I caught in the blog pond. Anyway that's my rant of the day don't mind me, I think it's just the weather. Have a happy DOODLE DANDY DAY everybody !!!

MY HEROES!
left to right: Yours truly (the new hobit hero), JACK COLMAN (Mr. Bennet), MIKE JACKOBSON, GREG GRUNBERG (Matt Parkman), SENDHIL RAMAMURTHY (Mohinder Suresh), & DEVON ROTH.Last Friday we bumped into 3 cast members of the new hit series "HEROES" during lunch in Hollywood. Pretty awesome to see the fellas on on the street and they were cool enough to pose for the pic. I do have to say that I was a lil' paranoid though, I kept peaking around the corner for the evil power sucking Sylar! Can't afford to lose my doodle abilities! I

Animation is Complete!
Yup! All scenes are now approved and going through the magical compositing stage. As soon as we're done compositing the shots we'll send it over to the musician to add original music and the sounds efx will be tackled here in house. Our aim is to get this whole thing in the can around the 1st week of February. Can't wait to share it with you all and I'll keep you posted on the final stages of Rednecks in Space.

Old Redneck Designs
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I made this poster for a pitch back in 2004. As you can see I changed the title to The Simpleton's for a more pleasant/ less offensive title. I felt I betrayed the characters and strayed from my original vision so afterwards I scratched The Simpleton's and changed it back to Rednecks in Space, but that of coarse was after I was rejected. Ha!
These two turnarounds I did back in 2003 of Billy & Elvis. As you can see Billy has a more sexy slim physique, his beer belly is just starting to blossom. Elvis's pompadour is in it's infancy stage.
The year 2000, damn 7 yrs ago! Oh well here's the first designs of Rednecks (dot-com boom). They were conceived in a small coffee shop in Santa Monica just off the 3rd St. Promenade. They were created with the intentions making web shorts, but with lack of story it never saw the light of day so it was shelved for several years. It would take about two years to dust 'em off, redevelop them with distinctive personalities and think of a real world that they could reek havoc in, but that was just the beginning... I hope you guys dig the early stuff as well as the new and I hope to bring you the final Rednecks in Space short to you early as February. Thanx again for your support fellas!!!

Hootch Truck
On our last houseboat trip last April in Tennessee we tied up in a cove to protect ourselves from high winds. Little did we know that 4 tornados touched down in the local area and 40 people died in a neighboring county.
This picture was taken early in the morning before the storm hit. A short hike up the hill from where the boat was tied up we discovered this find, an abandoned moonshine distillery. As you can see in the bed of this old Chevy is the brewing tank. The tank was tipped over after someone hacked it up with an axe. Beautiful find!

REDNECKS TRAILER!!!
Here's a first look at Rednecks in Space. Be warned there is strong language so it's not suitable for you youngsters out there!!! This was put together about a week ago to show at MIPCOM, but Fed-X screwed that one up, so here it is for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy, and remember it's still work in progress, so there are elements and animated shortcuts throughout the trailer but it still rocks!
***Don't forget to check out what's in the works at Tire Fire Films ***
Final Trans-Am Build
Well it's finally in, the final build for Billy & Elvis's ride-the flying Trans-Am. I'd like to thank my buds John Aquino for the awesome 3-D build and Tim Pixton for the kick-ass vector look! Well now I have total control how the car will animate in flash, that way we can keep the character and the car animation looking pretty seemless in timing and feel. The car has complete turns from every angle and all you have to do is call out the instance and your set. Just add an lil' stretch and squash here and there and BAM! The car comes to life. The Rednecks short is near final completion, just 27 shots left most of which are the car. Maybe in two more weeks all animation will be final. (fingers crossed)!
Thanks for all your support and fun e-mails. I can't wait to show you guys the final product! Stay tooned!

It's exciting as hell to see these guys finally breath some life after so many years sitting there as doodles. I hoping to finish animation in another two weeks. I'll keep my fingers crossed on that note.....

Finally!!!

Well I am excited to say that Rednecks in Space is currently in development for a 6 min. short. It only took what, 6 yrs. to get this thing in gear. If it weren't for the boys over at Six Point Harness kicking me in the ass to get this thing into action, I don't think it would ever see the light of day. Thank you dudes!
It's been about three weeks now and we have a final script thanks to Alain Matz. I just finished the turns on Billy and Elvis. (the two fellas posted above) My pal Kelsey Mann is currently bustin' out the boards. And just this past Wednesday we recorded the voices for our Rednecks and aliens! The talented Eric Bauza voiced Billy and the alien mob boss Zaan. Matt Danner did the voices for Elvis and the alien thug Nune. And last but not least, the voice for Billy and Elvis's dad Pops.......... David Arquette! He kicked ass playing a pissy 'ole fart of a father confined to an iron lung. Incredible job man! Thanx again for a wonderful job fellas! I couldn't be happier with the results.
If you want to follow the progress of the short I will be posting drawings, animatics and some dialogue on Six Point Harness blog. http://tirefirefilms.blogspot.com/ Also check development of "Sir Leo McMight the Foot Tall Knight", "Clawdad", "The Ape Hangers", and "Roaches on the Moon"on the Tire Fire blog.

Fairfield
Here's a concept sketch of Mr. X I did for a short film being produced/directed by my bud Mr. Kelsey Mann. It follows the dark tale of a hit man caught in a trap of deception. All artists contributing to this film noir animated short are working professionals doing what they do best on their free time without the influence of pesky executives. Christmas Card-2005
After much procrastination and one week before Christamas day it's finally done, my first watercolor! After seeing all these talented blog freeks using watercolor, it motivated me to pick up a brush and give it a swirl. Not what I had invisioned and not as easy as I thought it would be, but it sure was a lotta fun! Hope to do some more in the near future. If anyone knows of a class that teaches the secrets of watercolor in the LA area and doesn't charge Gnomon rates, please let me know!!!

Rednecks in Space BG's
This is something that's been in development for about 6 years now. It's "Dukes of Hazard" meets "X-Files" with a twist of "Gilligan's Island". I don't know what my fascination is about trailers and the people that live in these metallic boxes. All I know is that it would make a great animated series! Who would'nt want to see aliens and rednecks (not hillbillies-big difference) throwing down on a replica planet earth. I've been sitting on it for far too long and by posting it I hope it'll be the kick in the ass I need to get it going again. I'd love to talk about the story but time is a huge factor, nor do I want to bore you guys. So here it is.... Rednecks in Space, on public display for your review and critique. I hope you like and one day when I get the courage I'll post the characters.

Work Doodle
Did this one yesterday at work. Kinda weak so today I wanna see if I can push the shapes a lil' more. I don't think there is enough contrast btw. body and head, and in the facial features. The first sketch usually comes out rather blaaa. Now that I have that outta the way I can push and pull the shapes hopefully giving it a some kind of appeal.

Gettin' Paid to Draw
The Missing Link
Here's a beaut' of a friend of mine, Mr. Kellman. After he gave notice of his departure from CN the Foster's animators went to town caricaturing their hero and made him a book. Man if you could see all those kick ass sketches that poured out! Well here's to you Craig....and sorry for the ugly sketch.
Flashback 80's

Ahhhh....yes 1983 what a great year for rock and roll!!! Def Leppard's Pyromania, Ozzy's Bark at the Moon, Iron Maiden's Piece of Mind and much, much more! Here's a couple of drawings I did back in the day. If I recall correctly, I think I was in 4th grade and portable walkmans just came out. Like I said what a great year!!!
